Stop charging air tax, allow 30 kgs belonging to Ladakh people: Shaheen

JAMMU, Mar 22: Stop charging air tax and allow 30 kilograms of belonging to the people of Ladakh while traveling by air.
This was stated by State President, Janta Dal United J&K GM Shaheen while talking to media persons here today.
He said that Ladakh region remains closed for six months and during these months people of the this region face immense hardships.
Shaheen added that people of Ladakh region have to travel by air to reach to their destinations across the State and country and they have been charged with air tax which is injustice with them. He asked the Government to stop charging air tax from the people of Ladakh.
“Only 15 kilograms of belongings are allowed to people of Ladakh travelling by air which is another injustice with them. Government should allow people to use 30 kilograms of belongings to these people so that they do not suffer for want of their rights”, he said, adding that if Government failed to pay any heed to the demands of people of Ladakh region, Jammu United Jammu will protest with the people of Ladakh.
Shaheen further stated that the driver plying their trucks from Lakhanpur to Ladakh are facing problems due to non availability of rest rooms including kitchens and washrooms at the toll posts but Government is not paying any heed to the demands of truck drivers.
He said that Government should atleast provide basic amenities to the truck drivers at all toll posts across the State, so that they do not suffer.
He also condemned the recently killing of five members of a family in ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Balakote sector of district Poonch and called for holding meaningful dialogues between India and Pakistan to end this bloodshed on both sides.
