Start Duggar Channel to counter Pakistani propaganda: DSS

JAMMU, Dec 22:  While congratulating Dogri writers, poets and artists on the anniversary of the inclusion of  Dogri language in the 8th Schedule of  the Indian Constitution, Dogra Saddar Sabha president and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak today demanded that a full fledged Duggar channel be launched from Jammu to counter the Pak propaganda along the entire border belt.
Talking to media-persons here today, Mr Charak said that on December 22, 2003 Dogri language was included in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution after vigorous struggle  in the State and Delhi under the aegis of Dogra Saddar Sabha. Many people including artists and writers, Dr Karan Singh and Padma Sachdev besides others contributed during the struggle.  He said it is high time that the Dogra writers and poets besides artists should sit together  and deliberate in order to initiate necessary measures for enriching the Dogri literature and language for creating more interest among the general public regarding Dogri literature and music.
Mr Charak disclosed that DSS has now decided to start vigorous struggle for starting full fledged Duggar Channel from Jammu Doordarshan, to take necessary steps for restoration/ preservation of Mubarak Mandi, Bahu Fort and several other historical monuments on war footing in a planned manner, to organize Jammu festival regularly to project rich culture of Jammu region  and seek resolution of the problems being faced by the border people of Jammu region.
He disclosed that he along with his Sabha members met with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Chandresh Kumari Union Miniser for Culture, Manish Tiwari Union Minister for I&B  and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on December 17, 18 and 20 in this regard and they have assured their full cooperation in this regard.
