KATHUA, Jan 18: IRP-19th Battalion’s international player SI Tarun Gandotra, who brought laurels to J&K by representing J&K as team member in 59th National Roller Skating Championship held at Mohali recently and by playing crucial role in winning Bronze Medal after 11 years for J&K, was honoured by SSP Benam Tosh Commandant at battalion headquarters here amid great round of applause and greetings by officers and jawans of the unit.
SSP Benam Tosh while highlighting the achievements of SI Tarun Gandotra said that Tarun has the distinction of having represented India as Indian team member for 10 times in International Roller Skating championships held in Italy, China, Spain, South Korea, Venezuela and India.
Benam Tosh further told that Tarun Gandotra started playing Roller Skating at the age of just 4 years and has won 39 Medals so far including 13 Gold Medals, 18 Silver Medals, 8 Bronze Medals in District, State and National Roller Skating Championships in individual and team skills besides Sher-e-Kashmir Award in the field of sports conferred by J&K Sports Council and DGP Medal.
The Commandant called Tarun as “Gem of J&K Police” and “Pride of IRP-19th Battalion” and hoped that he will shine in National and International Championships in future also.
