Sqay fraternity mourns Mohammad Saleem Pathan

SRINAGAR, Aug 31: The Jammu & Kashmir Sqay Association has expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Mohammad Saleem Pathan, a senior Sqay Coach, Referee and Administrator, terming his passing an irreparable loss to the entire Sqay fraternity.

Pathan dedicated his life to the promotion and development of SQAY – the Ancient Traditional Martial Art of Kashmir. He made significant contributions to the growth of Sqay in District Ganderbal and worked tirelessly for its promotion at national and international levels. His discipline, technical expertise and commitment earned him immense respect among athletes, coaches, referees and administrators across the globe.

During his last rites, a large gathering of Sqay fraternity members assembled to pay their final respects. Grandmaster Mir Nazir Ahmad, Secretary General, International Council of SQAY; Bashirat Rasool, President, Sqay Federation of India; and Arshid Ahmad Bhat, Secretary General, Sqay Federation of India, along with representatives of various State and District Sqay Associations, attended the farewell. Athletes, coaches, referees and well-wishers also paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
