Sports Festival organized by Udhampur Police commences

JAMMU, Oct 10: A five day Sports Festival organized by District Police Udhampur under Civic action programme commenced at District Police Lines (DPL), Udhampur.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur-Reasi Range Virender Sharma was the chief guest, who formally inaugurated the Sports Festival. The festival began with T-20 Cricket Tournament after the inaugural function.
Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the guest of honour on the occasion.
DIG said that such type of events provide a platform to potential youth to explore their hidden talent and keep them   away from drug abuse. He added that sports activities help the youth to channelize their energy in a positive way. He further added that Police would organize more such programmes under Civic Action in future to encourage youth to take  part  is sports.
Earlier, SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat, the host of the tournament, presented welcome address and briefed about the competitions to be held during the dive day festival. He disclosed that around 1264 players will participate in 218 competitions which apart from T-20 Cricket Tournament would witness Football, Volleyball, Handball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Karate/Wushu, Kho Kho, Badminton, and other athletic events.
Among others present at the inaugural function were Additional SP Udhampur, Faisal Qureshi, besides officers of civil departments, prominent citizens and youths in large number.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police Sports Festival was organized by SDPO Chenani Chanderjeet Singh along with SHOs of Sub Division under the supervision of SSP Udhampur at GHSS Chenani. The festival was inaugurated by SDM Chenani Davinder Kumar Sharma. At Ramnagar, Udhampur Sports Festival was inaugurated by SDM Ramnagar Farooq Qazi. At Panchari, Udhampur Sports Festival was inaugurated by Tehisldar Landhar Mohan lal Sharma along with Naib Tehsildar Panchari Jyoti Parkash and Principal of GHSS Panchari.
