JAMMU, Feb 11: Samajwadi Party (SP) has expanded the State structure by inducting five more office bearers in its J&K Unit.
This was stated by State president of the party and ex MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman while talking to reporters here, today.
He said in view of volatile political situation at the Centre, the general elections to the Lok Sabha can’t be ruled out by this year. So to overcome the challenges, the SP State unit with the approval of its national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has decided to expand the party structure in the State.
The newly nominated office bearers included Col (retd) Bahadur Singh Choudhary as vice president, V K Atri (retd Judge) as vice president Jammu province, Raja Mohammed Abas, Dr Mohammed Yousuf Mir and Nazir Ahmed as State secretaries.
Referring to the political situation prevailing in the State, Sheikh Rehman said that the marriage of convenience contracted between the opportunistic NC & Congress has failed on all fronts. The claims made about the development are totally hollow, he added.
He said many Ministers in coalition are involved in scandals and cases against them are registered in Vigilance Organization as well. The role of main opposition parties including PDP and BJP is not satisfactory. The PDP has become the dumping ground for corrupt politicians while the cross voting of seven BJP MLAs is talk of the town, he added.
He accused both PDP and BJP of playing communal politics as PDP plays this card in Kashmiri and BJP in Jammu. In fact people are fed up with the politics of both these parties also, he added.
He said SP under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav has decided to provide a alternative United Front comprising of likeminded parties in the state so that the masses who are fed up with the corruption riddled atmosphere of ruling and opposition parties can give vent to their anger.
He said SP has decided to launch awareness programme by end of February & beginning of March in Jammu Division and in April and May in Kashmir Valley.
Col (retd) B S Choudhary, Younis Chouhan, Amrit Varsh, Ram Singh Chauhan, Sheikh Mohammed Shafi, Inder Ji Labroo and others were present in the press conference.
