SRINAGAR, May 15: Shazia of B.Sc. Part-I emerged winner in the Annual College Road Race for Girls organized by the Sports Board of S. P. College here today.
The race was flagged of by Principal Dr. Yaseen Ahmad Shah.
Shaista of B.Sc. Part-I and Asma of B.Sc Part-II secured second and third place respectively.
Speaking at the Prize Distribution function held at Dug Park Foreshore Road, Dr. Yaseen Ahmad Shah said that sports enhances physical and mental capacities in the students adding that college will soon hold a road race of college staff members also to further boost the sports culture in the college.
The Secretary Staff Council Dr. Mohd Farooq Mir Musheer-ul-Islam Physical Director of the College and Convener Sports Board Prof. Noor Mohd Malik also felicitated the participants on the occasion.
Meanwhile, to boost sports activities in the district, Annual Road Race of boys and girls was organised by Model Government Degree College, Chrar-i-Sharief here today.
A large number of students took part in the Road Race which started from Ziarat Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) and concluded at Chrar-i-Sharief sports stadium.
The race was flagged off by the Principal of the College.
Among girls, Irfana Jan, Tawsi Jan and Rehana Akhter bagged first three positions respectively while among boys, Kaiser Ahmad Hurrah, Mudasir Qadir and Irshad Ahmad Sheikh bagged the first three positions in the event respectively.
