Soham clinches 13th place in Senior National Chess C’ship

JAMMU, Aug 1: J&K highest rated player, Soham Kamotra clinched 13th place in the Senior National Chess Championship which was organised online this year due to COVID-19 by Indian Chess Federation.
About 247 players from almost all the States of India including 40 titled players and International Chess Grandmasters participated in this event.
Soham Kamotra defeated two Grandmasters, two International Masters and drew with two International Masters and secured eight points out of 11 rounds by winning seven matches. It is the highest percentage score ever scored by any J&K player in Senior National.
Meanwhile, in another event of Under-17 boys in Asian School, he won Bronze medal.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president of All J&K Chess Association congratulated and honoured him for this great achievement. He mentioned that Soham has great potential and he can bring laurels to J&K and India at International level very soon.
