SMVD Sports Complex’s athletes shine in Athletics meet

REASI, Dec 10: Athletes of SMVD Sports Complex shined in the District Athletic Meet and clinched 36 medals in both track and field events, organized by District Athletics Association at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine (SMVD) Sports Complex Katra, here today.
The two day event was organized under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletics Association J&K UT wherein Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Vishavjeet Singh was the chief guest on the occasion, while addressing the players he asked the Association to hold such competitions on a regular basis.
Rajesh Sharma, Nodal Officer SMVD Sports Complex was the guest of honour. The event was conducted under the chairmanship of District president Manu Partap along with his team. He thanked the Chief Executive Officer and Rishi Kumar (coach) for proving the Complex’s ground for the smooth conduct of the competitions.
The competitions were held in the track and field event under-14, 16, 20 and in open category both boys and girls category.
In under-14 boys 100mtrs and 200 mtrs, Gourav Roy stood 1st, Tarun Rajput remained 2nd and Harish Mohd clinched 3rd , whereas in under-14 girls 100 mtrs, top three places were secured by Shambhavi Sharma, Sonia Devi and Simran Thakur respectively and in under-16 girls 200mts, Sunekha Kumari, Sakshi Devi and Anjali Devi stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In under-18 boys 100 mtrs, top three positions were clinched by Dilshan Singh, Sudharan Sharama and Munish Sharam, while girl’s category, Janvi Rajput, Ishika Devi and Kushi Sharma stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, besides in under-18 girls 400mtrs, first three places were secured by Sakshi Devi, Laxmi Devi and Janvi Devi respectively.
In under-18 boys 800mtrs- top three medals were won by Tarun Nargotra, Mohd Adil and Lakhvinder Singh, while in open 800 mtrs- Pankaj Kumar, Mohd Asif and Rajan Arora stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in under-18 1500 mtrs boys, Rajat Sanmotra, Inzamam-Ul-Haq and Rohan Sanmotra won top three places, besides in under-16 boys, the first three medals were clinched by Ajay, Abhishek Lahotra and Nikhil Thakur.
In girls 1500 mtrs, Sakshi Thakur, Simran and Pooja Devi stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd, while in under-20 3000 mtrs, first three places were clinched by Rajat, Ishkeel Mohd and Atul Singh.
In field event (under-14), Martangi Sharma and Sheetal stood 1st and 2nd in javelin, whereas in under-18 boys, Dilshan Singh, Manish and Arun Sharma stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in long jump under-18 boys, top three places were secured by Manish, Deepak Kotwal and Dilshan, besides in under-20 boys, Pawan Sharma, Jaswander Singh and Pankaj stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In shot put under- 20 mtrs, Mohd Asif, Shakil Mohd and Inzamam-Ul-Haq bagged top three places respectively.
The events were officiated by Rishi Kumar in assistance with Anandit Sharma (Coach SMVD Sports Complex) under the supervision of Rahul Bakshi, consultant of District Athletics Association.
