JAMMU, Nov 24: Vikram Malhotra, Congress candidate, Jammu East, today laid stress on the need to provide prime importance to skill development among the youth to enable them towards building their careers.
He said with this in view, he accords high priority to the skill development among various points enlisted in his agenda.
He said this while addressing a series of campaigns held in the segment, during one such campaign, Vikram today received support from Special Taxi Union, which said they extend a full-fledged support from its members and office bearers to Malhotra.
Also, during another campaign meeting dozens of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of Jammu East along with their hundreds of supporters today quit the party and joined Congress in presence Vikram Malhotra.
Malhotra welcomed the new entrants in the party fold and assured them that he will do his best to mitigate the sufferings of masses in general and Jammu East in particular.
Meanwhile, president of Special Taxi Union, J&K Inderjeet Sharma has said that the union and all its members and office bearers are highly impressed by the development works carried out by Malhotra and thus are pledged to vote in his support.
Those who joined the Congress, included Gaurav Sikka, Viresh Sharma, Amar Kumar, Ankush, Khush and Rahil Talwar.
Malhotra also toured Bikram Chowk, Kanji House, Jain Bazar and other areas of Jammu East constituency and appealed the locals to vote in his favour.
On the occasion, he urged the people to defeat the machinations of divisive forces by maintaining unity and tranquility.
