JAMMU, Oct 6: Nearly six months have passed on but unfortunately, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council has not yet got the new Chief Sports Officer, the post of which fell vacant in March this year.
One of the important posts of Chief Sports Officer, in the J&K State Sports Council, fell vacant in March this year after the retirement of Abdul Qayum as CSO, and yet to be filled up, sources here said.
They said, “the post of CSO is important in the department because, it is the man, who acts as bridge between the coaches and the administration but surprisingly, the senior most, who as per the ladder, has to be appointed, is still waiting for it, the reasons better known to the department.”
However, coaches and the officials of the department have appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to appoint the CSO at the earliest as it is for the betterment of the department, its functioning and above all the employees, who can put forward their concerns through CSO to higher ups.
Pertinent to mention here that the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik headed administration in 2018 had announced a separate budget of Rs 300 cr for the welfare and promotion of sports.
