Simula XI, ICC script wins in 5th Christmas Cup

JAMMU, Dec 8: Simula XI and International Cricket Club (ICC) registered wins over their rivals in the ongoing 5th Christmas T20 Cricket Tournament, being jointly organized by Christian Sports Organization Jammu & Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu and supported by Diocese of J&K.
The slogan of the tournament is “Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs”.
Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu was the chief guest who was introduced with the participating teams on the occasion.
Earlier, in the first match, Simula XI defeated Shiva Cricket Club by 35 runs. Batting first, Simula XI scored a decent total of 168 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20. Atul Sharma top scored with 81 runs, while Shashi and Puneet contributed 28 and 27 runs respectively. Amit, Sahil, Parveen, Arun and Martin claimed 1 wicket each from Shiva Club.
In reply, Shiva Club managed to score 133 runs in 19.2 overs and lost the match by 35 runs. Arun (49), Armaan (23) and Martin (14) were the main scorers. From Simula, Satish and Mohit took 2 wickets each, while Vikram, Kuldeep, Puneet and Abhinav shared 1 wicket each. Atul Sharma was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, ICC defeated Kashmir Blues XI by a big margin of 93 runs.
Batting first, ICC scored 164 runs for the loss of 5 wickets with Rahil  (85), Rajat (48), Prayas (22) being the main scorers. From bowling side, Imtiyaz took 2 wickets, while Bilal, Ajaz and Mumtaz claimed 1 wicket  each.
In reply, Kashmir Blues XI managed to score 139 runs in 17.1 overs with Rayees (39), Danish (28) and Imtiaz (19) being the main scorers.
From bowling side, Rishab, Rahil and Suresh took 2 wickets each, while Rajiv claimed 1 wicket. Rahil was declared as the man of the match.
“In tomorrow’s fixture, Lakshmi Cricket Club will take on Srinagar XI at 9.30 am and KC Sports XI will face Road Safety XI at 12.30 pm,” informed organizing secretary, Rajesh Gill.
