NEW DELHI, Oct 13: Silver prices rose by Rs 348 to Rs 38,860 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December traded higher by Rs 348, or 0.90 per cent, at Rs 38,860 per kg in a business turnover of 685 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in March 2015 traded higher by Rs 333, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 39,169 per kg in 7 lots.
Market analysts said speculative positions built-up by participants largely in tandem with a firming trend in overseas markets as concern that global growth is slowing, stoked bets that the US Federal Reserve may push back interest-rate increases, boosting demand for a safe-haven demand that influenced silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver gained 0.70 per cent to USD 17.51 an ounce in Singapore. (PTI)
