NEW DELHI, Dec 31: Silver prices fell by 0.44 per cent to Rs 44,010 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, tracking a weak trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded by Rs 193, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 44,010 per kg in business turnover of 431 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May declined by Rs 183, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 44,997 per kg in business volume of 11 lots.
In the international market, silver traded 2.54 per cent lower at USD 19.57 an ounce in New York in yesterday’s trade.
Market analysts said a subdued trend in precious metals in the global markets as an improving economy cut demand for wealth protection, led to fall in silver prices at futures trade here. (PTI)
