SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Valley Sikhs today staged a protest here in city centre and demanded arrest of culprits involved in sacrilegious act that occurred last month at Budgam district of central Kashmir.
The Sikhs, under the banner of United Sikh Forum, staged a protest outside Gurudwara at Court Road in Lal Chowk here against the desecration of their Holy Book – Guru Granth Sahab – on March 24 at Khanpora Sarai village of Budgam district by unidentified miscreants.
The protesters said that sacrilege of any holy book is unacceptable and said the Granth Sahab was “deliberately” desecrated at Budgam. The Sikhs expressed dismay over lack of breakthrough into the probe ordered by the Government and demanded speeding up of investigation.
“The culprits should be identified, nabbed and put behind the bars. We are not satisfied with the slow speed of investigation,” they demanded and accused the Government of meting out step-motherly treatment to the Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir.
