SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Days after a Sikh body announced to support People’s Democratic Party, Jammu and Kashmir Gurdwara Prabandhak Board, comprising of six Gurdwara Prabandhak committees, today distanced itself from the former’s call.
JKGPB said the Sikh community in the state should listen to their conscience and vote for the best candidates in the remaining three phases of the Assembly polls.
“NC, PDP, Congress and BJP like parties have just looked to Sikhs as mere vote bank meant to en-cash on the time of elections and then forget them for the rest of years. Sikhs should hear the voice of their conscience and vote for the best possible candidates that could champion their genuine causes,” Bhupinder Singh, secretary of the Board told reporters here.
13 Assembly segments are slated for polls for third phase on December 9, and out of them Baramulla, Rafiabad and Tral seats have good number of sikh voters.
Singh was reacting to All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina’s support to PDP.
Singh said Raina has no value in the Sikh community and his vested lobby (APSCC) has done nothing productive for the community.
