SRINAGAR, June 20: Members of Gurmat Taksal (GS) today protested against the thrashing of an auto rickshaw driver and disrespecting his turban in Delhi on Monday.
The members of the body assembled at the Press Enclave here and demanded strict action against the policemen. The protestors took out a rally and raised slogans in favor of their demands. They were carrying placards and banners that read, “We want justice” and “our turban our pride”.
“We have assembled to protests against the beating of the man and disrespecting our religious symbol, Turban. We have made several sacrifices for this nation. However, like other minorities, we too are facing assaults on a daily basis,” Devinder Singh, General Secretary of the body, told reporters.
Meanwhile, the protestors appealed International Human Rights Organization to intervene in the matter and called on the Government to pass a strict law to prevent such incidents in the future.
