SIDCO to take lead role in infrastructure building of Ladakh

LEH, Sept 17: Advisor to LG Ladakh, Umang Narula, who is also Chairman of the Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCO), Ltd, chaired the 2nd meeting of Board of Directors today at the Civil Secretariat, Leh.
Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation has been incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 to accelerate infrastructure and economic development in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The Board took a detailed review of the actions taken on the decisions made in the first meeting of SIDCO and discussed further plans of action to make SIDCO a leading agency in Ladakh to take up infrastructure work as mandated.
Executive Director, SIDCO, Ladakh, Lakshay Singhal made a detailed presentation on the agenda items placed before the board which inter alia included finalization and approval of the Logo & Motto of SIDCO; adoption of common seal for the company; creation of posts; finalization and approval of draft recruitment/service rules; delegation of Administrative and financial power to the officers of the board; assigning of charge of various posts; outsourcing of Ministerial staff; status of various works assigned to SIDCO; among others.
The Board also approved the appointment of Anurag Goyal (IRS), Sr Advisor for Ladakh NITI Aayog, as ex officio Director of the Board.
Advisor Narula emphasised that for sustainable development of the industrial sector in Ladakh, it is imperative that the corporation works with a prospective vision besides an effective strategy in tune with modern trends and mechanisms. He added that more projects should be taken up and instructed to recruit the requisite manpower. He further stated that this could generate employment opportunities as the corporation will be promoting industry, tourism, transport and marketing of local products and handicrafts, in accordance with the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Pawan Kotwal, Administrative Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Dept, Ladakh; Anurag Goyal, Sr Advisor for Ladakh NITI Aayog; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Administrative Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Deptt, Ladakh; Saugat Biswas, Administrative Secretary, Industries and Commerce Dept, Ladakh and other concerned officials.
