Shri Harieshwar Yatra Chhari Mubarak leaves from Sedeshwar Mahadev Temple

PULWAMA, Aug 27: The Shri Harieshwar Yatra Chhari Mubarak commenced today from the historic Sedeshwar Mahadev Temple, Pampore, following special Puja and traditional religious rituals, marking the beginning of a significant devotional pilgrimage towards Harieshwar Gufa at Khonmoh.

Sedeshwar Mahadev Temple, revered as the Tapobhoomi associated with Mata Yogini Lalleshwari, witnessed an atmosphere of deep devotion as devotees participated in the sacred prayers before the Chhari Mubarak embarked on its onward journey.

The Chhari Mubarak proceeded towards Mata Baladevi Temple, Balahama, where further prayers and traditional rituals were performed en route to the sacred Harieshwar Gufa. The presence of Shaivite scholars and spiritual researchers from different parts of the country and abroad added further spiritual depth to the Yatra.

Babita Ji, former Sarpanch, played a significant role in organising the sacred event and extended wholehearted support for its smooth conduct.

Kiran Watal, president of the Amarnath Yatra Welfare Society and Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, also addressed the devotees. His dedicated efforts in developing and improving the track leading towards Pavitr Harieshwar Gufa played an important role in facilitating the smooth and safe movement of devotees and the Chhari Mubarak. He emphasised the importance of restoring and preserving traditional pilgrimage routes and ensuring that the sacred heritage of Kashmir remains connected with future generations.

Addressing the devotees, Ravi Ji Bhat, local social activist, highlighted the spiritual, cultural and historical significance of the Yatra. He recalled the contribution of Shri Bilhana, the great scholar and poet associated with Khonmoh, and emphasised the region’s rich Shaivite intellectual and spiritual heritage.

Bhat said that the Chhari Mubarak is a traditional sacred Parv, and its revival is important for preserving Kashmir’s ancient spiritual traditions and carrying them forward to generations to come.

The Chhari Mubarak, led by Shri Ramesh Razdan, local priest of Khonmoh, will proceed to Pavitr Harieshwar Gufa, where Puja and traditional religious rituals will be performed on August 28.

At Bavnishiri Nag, devotees will take a holy bath before commencing the final ascent towards Harieshwar Gufa at 6:00 AM on August 28.
