JAMMU, Nov 20: SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Gole Gujral celebrated Annual Day with pomp and show.
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand was chief guest, while, Principal RK Dhar, Director, SOS Children Village Prasenjit Das, staff members, students and parents were also present.
Principal, RK Dhar presented annual report of the school and highlighted various achievements of the school in curricular as well as extra-curricular activities.
Students presented scintillating cultural programme, which included Saraswati Vandana, group songs, qawali and folk dances. A special fusion dance presentation, which highlighted the unique culture and tradition of J&K and Rajasthan, was highly appreciated by the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Tara Chand lauded efforts of the school management for imparting quality education besides promoting equilibrated development of the children with new and innovative methods of teaching.
“Need of the hour is to expand the scope of school activities and maintain a balance in both academics and extracurricular activities so as to ensure all round development of pupils”, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister said present era of competition demands that students should work hard and give their best in all aspects, adding that as future citizens of the society, they should show dedication towards every field of life.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister gave away prizes to students who excelled in academics and brought laurels to school in sports, arts and cultural events in state as well as national levels. Ravi House was awarded best house of the school.
