“We don’t know why, but he gave us one kgs short of what was to be actually given and what is ironical here is that, while we have not collected the ration for the month of May, he has marked the same as received on our ration cards,” said Muhammad Ashraf, a local resident.
What has alerted the residents is that they have found less number of their family members against those who are registered. Some have got 5 instead of 8 members registered on their ration cards.
“I have 8 members, but on the card, there were only 5, then I went to the concerned and they got it corrected,” said Abdul Rahim, another resident
The bungling do not stop here, the residents are charged Rs 10 extra every month on the pretext of rent for the shop where from the ration depot is functioning.
“The officials should tell us if he is supposed to charge us, if yes then it is fine, if no, then action should be taken against him,” another resident said.
The residents demanded that action should be taken against the person who is the in charge of the ration depot in the area and they should get what the Government has provided them.
“Majority of people living here are poor and the Government should take note of these charges against him and take an action because at the end the poor people are facing the brunt of it,” the residents said.
