BHADERWAH, Aug 4: A shopkeeper allegedly committed suicide after shooting at and critically injuring his wife in Gatha area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bhaderwah Police Station.
As per police sources, a shopkeeper identified as Ankush Sharma (29), son of late Krishan Kant Sharma of Gatha fired at his wife Ashwani Sharma (23) from his licensed 12-bore gun at his home in village Gatha around 1.15 pm and later shot himself.
Sharma died instantly of a gunshot wound in his neck, while his wife suffered injuries on her chest and was rushed to a Critical Health Centre (CHC) Bhaderwah where her condition was stated to be critical when last reports came in.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Bhaderwah Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step taken by Ankush Sharma.
“A shopkeeper Ankush Sharma shot at his wife and injured her and later committed suicide by shooting himself. We have registered a case and started investigation”, said SDPO Bhaderwah Aadil Rishu.
