JAMMU, Mar 15: Shastri Cricket Club defeated Star Eleven Cricket Club by 9 wickets in the opening match of 1st Jammu Cup Cricket Tournament, being organized by chief organizer Vicky Raina and his team at MA Stadium, here.
Winning the toss and batting first, Star Eleven scored a paltry total of 83 runs in 17 overs. Sajad and Pankaj scored 21 and 17 runs respectively. For Shastri Club, Amit Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 9 runs in his 3 overs, while Vicky Raina claimed 2 wickets by giving away 18 runs in his 4 overs.
Shastri Club, in reply scored the required runs in just 9 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Vicky Raina top scored with 46 runs, while Sunil Bali contributed 23 runs to the total. Sajad took one wicket for Star Eleven. Vicky Raina was adjudged as man of the match.
