JAMMU, Dec 2: Karnataka off-spinner Shashi Kumar K spun web around J&K batsmen and plotted their collapse, scalping 6 wickets for 47 runs in 25.4 overs to guide his side to a big victory by an innings and 210 runs over Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy at Kandukuri Cricket Academy ground, Vizag, today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 142/3, Jammu and Kashmir bundled out for a paltry total of 193 runs in 104.4 overs. Skipper Mohammad Manzir, who was unbeaten on 64 runs, added just 4 runs to his overnight total and was dismissed on 68 runs off 161 balls, while Nityam Abrol who was sent as the night-watchman on the penultimate day, was the next man to go at his individual score of 13 runs and the team’s total of 170 runs. Then the whole J&K side collapsed at 193 runs as Yuvraj Saini (11), Shivansh Sharma (1), Dhruv Singh Parmar (16) and Basit Bashir (0) could not contribute much.
Shashi Kumar K was the wrecker-in-chief for Karnataka, who took 6 important wickets, while Aaditya Nair and Yashovardhan Parantap bagged 2 and one wickets respectively.
With this win Karnataka earned 7 points, while J&K failed to open their account.
J&K will take on Pudducherry in the next outing on December 6, 2021.
