Sham Choudhary reviews functioning of PHE, I&FC Deptts

JAMMU, June 1: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today chaired a meeting of Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Departments to review the progress of various projects under these sectors.
He instructed the officers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects and complete these within the shortest possible time. He also directed to regularize all drinking water supply connections and repair all defunct tube wells in Jammu province.
The meeting was informed about the present status of major Water Supply Schemes of R S Pura and Kathua, Samba etc. The Minister directed the concerned officers to commission the schemes within shortest time period.
The Minister reviewed the practical and ground level implication of the schemes along with financial progress. He said during this fiscal the government would focus on installation of more hand pumps for wider coverage of small habitations.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer to ensure that work on water supply schemes is completed at an earliest to augment the water supply in these districts.
Sham Choudhary stressed upon the concerned officers to conduct regular visits to vital installations to stay well versed with the ground level situation and impending issues of their department.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, I&FC, PHE, Rajeev Gandotra, SEs, Executive Engineers besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
