Semis lineup drawn in cricket; Parshuram XI enters football finals

JAMMU, Oct 22: Semifinals position has been cleared in cricket being played as part of Lawyers Sports Meet, while Parshuram XI defeated Strikers XI today to enter football finals and will take on Team ‘A’ in the finals of the Meet tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first quarterfinal, Paradise XI defeated Strikers XI by a big margin of 56 runs. Winning the toss and batting first, Paradise XI scored 109 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Gurupartap was the top scorer with magnificent 53 runs, while Vikas contributed 15 runs to the total. Nitin took 2 wickets, while Avinay and Pranav claimed one wicket each for Strikers XI.
In reply, Strikers XI bundled out for 53 runs, thus lost the match by 56 runs. S Charanjeev Singh was the only batsman to cross double figure mark with 11 runs. Ravi Abrol took 4 wickets, while Traibaz bagged 2 wickets.
The second quarterfinal match was played between Dogra XI and Striking XI, in which Dogra XI after winning the toss batted first and scored 133 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Ashwani was the highest scorer with 48 runs, while Ajeet Pal Singh contributed 25 runs. For Striking XI, Rajeev took 2 wickets.
In reply, Striking XI bundled out for paltry total of 80 runs to lose the match by 53 runs. For Dogra XI, Ashwani took 2 wickets.
The third quarterfinal match was played between Legal Star and King Royal XI, in which Legal Star after winning the toss batted first and scored a mammoth total of 216 runs in the allotted overs. Surinder was the top scorer with 83 runs, whereas Sami scored brilliant 66 runs and Pranav Kohli contributed valuable 31 runs. For King Royal XI, Dheeraj took 1 wicket.
Chasing a big total, King Royal XI collapsed at 82 runs, thus lost the match by big margin of 134 runs. Sidharth was the highest scorer with 22 runs, while Aditya Sharma chipped in with 20 runs. For Legal Star XI, Parvesh Singh and Sanjay Sharma took 2 wickets each.
The fourth quarterfinal was played between Royal XI and Counsel XI. Winning the toss and batting first, Royal XI team scored a modest total of 92 runs in 12 overs. Zubair Ahmed was the highest scorer with 24 runs and Aditya Gupta scored 18, while Lokesh took 3 wickets and Aashray Choudhary took 2 wickets.
Chasing the target, Counsel XI scored the required runs easily to script a convincing victory. Lokesh was the top scorer with 41 runs, while Sohail contributed 16 runs to the total. Rohit Gupta and Hitesh claimed 1 wicket each.
In the Football tournament, the match was played between Parshuram XI and Striker XI, which was won by Parshuram XI by 2-1 via tie-breaker. ‘A’ Team will take on Parshuram XI in the summit clash tomorrow.
