Seminar on birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev organised

JAMMU, Oct 26: In connection with the 550th Parkash Purab (Birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a seminar was organized by `Punjabi Sahit Te Sabhyachar Kendra’ Jammu at Abhinav Theatre here today.
Mahant Manjit Singh, head priest Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch and Sant Tejwant Singh from Dera Sant Pura Danna were the special guests on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and Vivek Gupta, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range also graced the occasion and shared their views on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They said teachings of the great Guru are very relevant in day today life.
Former Ambassador and Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala Dr Jaspal Singh threw light life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his pupil Mardana with whom he took out `Udasis’. His music was appreciated by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Des Raj Kali, eminent Punjabi writer, recalled his contribution in `Japji Sahib’ while eminent scholar of Sikh history Dr Naseer Akhtar from Malerkotla Punjab spoke on the association of Guru Nanak dev Ji with Muslims and also narrated several instances.
Earlier, TS Wazir, president, Punjabi Sahit Te Sabhyachar Kendra, welcomed the guests and other dignitaries and also expressed his views on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Vote of thanks was presented by S. Fateh Singh, general secretary DGPC. Prominent citizens and the members of All DGPCs of Jammu province were present on the occasion.
