NEW DELHI, Mar 28: The Union Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Govt of India, Ajay Tirkey, today released a publication of J&K Integrated Watershed Management Programme.
The Union Secretary released the publication during the course of the Steering Committee meeting held today at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Hukam Singh Meena, Additional Secretary; Umakant, Joint Secretary; C P Reddy, Senior Additional Commissioner; S K Daila, Director Watershed; Shanoo Bhat, Assistant Commissioner (All from Department of Land Resources). The senior officers from NITI Aayog, National Rainfed Areas Authority, CRIDA, NABARD, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, etc were present.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Watershed Management Programme, J&K, appraised the Union Secretary that the publication contains a pictorial description of notable works done by J&K UT under Phase I of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. He said that a total of 15874 were executed thereby treating an area of 230924 Hectares.
Ajay Tirkay, Union Secretary, Land Resources, appreciated the achievements registered by the States and UTs under Phase I & exhorted other States/UTs to come out with publications describing their respective achievements. He exhorted the officers to implement the scheme on a mission mode so that the benefits percolate down to the masses & farmers income can be increased as has been envisioned by the Prime Minister.
The Chief Executive Officers of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya & UT of Jammu and Kashmir were present in the meeting and gave power point presentations of their respective States/UTs.
