JAMMU, July 8: The much awaited second edition of Jammu Film Festival has been postponed.
This was announced by the Festival Directors Rakesh Roshan Bhat and Rohit Bhat today.
“Although Jammu Film Festival was the most awaited entertainment event of Jammu in 2020 owing to the huge success of its first edition in 2019, the core team has decided to postpone the event keeping in view the COVID situation”, disclosed Rohit Bhat, the Festival Director.
“We are delighted to share that we have entered into a strategic partnership with a Mumbai based media company PSJ Media Vision to achieve the scale and grandeur that we envisioned for the second edition. However, looking at the current COVID situation it looks unlikely that such an event can be held this year because it would require participants and guests to travel nationally and internationally besides having the huge footfalls at the physical venues in Jammu. The core committee in consultation with the strategic partner PSJ Media Vision decided to postpone the event. The new dates will be announced as soon as the policy guidelines allow such events in future”, elaborated Rakesh Roshan Bhat, the Co-festival Director and brain behind the festival.
“We at PSJ Media Vision were very excited to be part of one of the most promising film festivals in North India especially JK UT. We are very enthusiastic to explore other avenues of entertainment and media in JK UT to harness the talent and resources that this beautiful UT is known for. It is an unfortunate situation that we have to postpone this event but our endeavour will be to do it in the best possible way when situation is normal and not create any overheads for administration or people of Jammu”, said Pratush Mishra, the MD of PSJ Media Vision from Mumbai.
“We had suggestions to do an online film festival. But we felt doing so would take away the Jammu factor from it. This festival is about celebrating the city, the people and the warmth of Jammu. Technologically it would not be a challenge to do it online though”, explained the Technical Director of the festival Rahul Pandit who is also the MD of leading IT Company of Jammu Ideogram Technologies.
The Advisor of the festival Ex Municipal Commissioner Kiran Wattal and senior core team members Mushtaq Kak and Lalit Parimoo who are also well known Bollywood faces echoed the same sentiments.
