Sir,
Refer to the news “Majority of Srinagar schools run from rented accommodation” DE July 22, 2018, wherein the correspondent has highlighted that many Hr., High, Middle and Primary Schools as per the figures of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) District Srinagar are running without the Government owned buildings/are functioning from the rented accommodations and are without basic facilities and amenities which is very much strange and surprising as it makes students suffer for no fault of theirs and burdens Government Exchequer and is also the basic reason of the low standard of education for which the teaching community across the length and breadth of the State is held responsible.
I as a citizen would like to add that it is not only District Srinagar where the Schools do function from rented accommodations and lack basic facilities, etc but in the rest of the (21) Districts the schools including the migrant schools are without basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, labotary, library smart class rooms, science kits, playing grounds etc.
There is also shortage of Lecturers in disciplines of Mathematics, Sociology, English etc reportedly.
Therefore, it is requested to Advisor to the Governor I/C J&K School as well as Higher Education Department J&K State to kindly direct the concerned authorities to construct Government owned School buildings and provide them basic facilities.
