Sir,
The recent happening involving the death of a young kid, still in school exposes the carelessness with which our schools handle the trust that parents repose in them while handing our their children. This also exposes the way we look towards the security of our children when we send them to school. Incidents like these have happened in past and continue to happen but there seems to be a gross overlook on part of parents, specifically schools and no less the Govt.. The institution by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu is laudable. In this context I am reminded of the Supreme Court guide lines specific to the transport facilities provided by the school authorities. Very rarely do you see them implemented in true letter and spirit.
Just begin your day in the morning on any Jammu roads and you can see how easily these guidelines are violated by even the most premier institutes of the city. You feel sorry for the State in which our young ones are ferried and at times fear of insecurity grips you. But then we let it pass off.
This time I hope that this endeavour on the part of Govt to initiate an enquiry finds some solid support from the people of this temple town.
Yours etc….
S.N. Raina, Jammu
