JAMMU, June 11: J&K Congress today said it is surprising that PDP and BJP is claiming credit for something which has already been done in the UPA regimes.
It said that most projects inaugurated by BJP were in fact launched by the earlier UPA Government citing examples of the Bhupen Hazarika Dhola-Sadiya Bridge in Assam and the Chenani-Nashri tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that both of these projects were launched by the earlier UPA Government. It also said that demonetization was the only new thing done by the BJP in the last three years, but that too failed to get the desired results and it only caused misery to people, especially farmers.
Taking a dig at PDP and BJP for taking credit after inaugurating Medical Colleges, former Minister Raman Bhalla while addressing public gathering at Bhour Camp in continuance with his mass contact programme to listen to the grievances of different areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency said establishing Medical Colleges and cancer hospitals in the State was on the top priority of the previous UPA regime. By patting their back for the same PDP and BJP is trying to befool the people in the name of the development. “The Congress-led UPA government was serious to cater to people’s aspirations for development and prosperity and accordingly it had set up more administrative units and centrally sponsored schemes over the years,” Bhalla said. He also recalled the efforts of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, sanctioning four new Medical Colleges and two Cancer Hospitals for the State.
Criticizing the State Government for not being serious about the unemployment issue, Bhalla said that it is very unfortunate that unemployment problem has risen considerably; as a result, the youth of the State feel estranged and apprehensive about their future.
The former Minister further claimed that the people in Jammu city and other adjoining districts, experiencing harsh summer days are suffering badly in view of the worst kind of power crisis as the Power Development Department (PDD) has miserably failed to provide adequate supply of electricity to the consumers even in the fully metered areas.
