NEW DELHI, May 1:
The Supreme Court today allowed Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s petition to call some more witnesses before the Panchkula CBI Court in the 1999 rape case.
The sixteen-year-old rape case pertains to the complaint filed by two Haryana girls against the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Ram Rahim. The two girls’ were staying in the Ram Rahim’s ashram in Panchkula in Haryana, in which the alleged incident took place. The girls claimed that Ram Rahim raped them allegedly in 1999. The case is pending before a Panchkula CBI Court. A Division bench, comprising Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Prafulla C Pant, allowed the plea of Ram Rahim to call five witnesses, out of which four are defence and the other is an expert witness. The Apex Court fixed the next date of hearing as May 11 in the case. (UNI)
