JAMMU, Apr 15: Expressing concern over rising accidents in hilly areas of the State, Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, GM Saroori has demanded construction of four lane road from Batote to Kishtwar.
Saroori has expressed concern over the condition of the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway. The highway has collapsed at several places, beside the road shows sign of sinking at many places as a result of which the threat of permanent dis-connectivity looms large in the area having population of more than 7 lakh, he added.
He said that the road has turned into a death trap and can invite trouble any time, adding that it was unfit for traveling of heavy vehicles.
Saroori said the road is in worst condition and only solution is to construct four lanes from Nashri tunnel to Khelani-Doda- Phigsoo Thathri-Kishtwar upto Anantnag via Singpora Vailoo tunnel and by construction this route it will be all weather roads and will be shortest and feasible road so that the people of this hilly belt are relieved from their problems.
Saroori regretted that such accidents have become a routine affair but no concrete action has been taken so far by the Government to save precious human lives.
