KISHTWAR, May 9: Reaching out to the people of far- flung areas of Tehsil Kahra in district Doda, PCC vice president and MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori today held a public grievance redressal meeting at tehsil headquarter Kahara.
During his visit to Malanoo, Bitola, Kencha, Baghdeyr, Nagni, Gugara, Thrankhal, Goila, Bathri and other adjoining areas, the people apprised him of various problems being faced by them. They raised the issues of the un-schedule electricity cuts, shortage of teaching staff in schools, irregular distribution of ration in the CAPD outlets, bad condition of irrigation canals, shortage of staff in hospitals/ ISM health sub centres, ISM centres, non-payment of MGNREGA wages and unavailability of mid day meal ration in schools.
People also highlighted the poor condition of electricity and various water supply schemes in the area and demanded to ensure regular supply of clean drinking water in all villages and improved power supply.
Mr Saroori after listening to the problems of people, sought reports from the concerned officers while most of the issues were settled on the spot. He also announced that this year R&B Department will black top the Kahra-Kencha road, Bhatyas-Jakyas road, Thathri-Bathri road, Thathri-Phigsoo road and inner circular roads of Sub-Division Thathri. He said number of welfare and developmental schemes have already been completed and various schemes and projects in this regard are being implemented to further improve the socio-economic profile of people of the area.
The MLA was accompanied by Tehsildar Kahra Ghulam Nabi Malik, BDO Pritam Singh, TSO Lyakat Ali Zarger, ZEO Reyaz Ahmed and officers of R&B, PMGSY, PDD, Irrigation and PHE.
Meanwhile, Mr Saroori also held a meeting of Congress leaders, members and workers and informed that Congress membership drive is being held on May 13 at Kishtwar, May 14 at Doda and May 15 at Ramban.
Vice president J&K PCC and in-charge Doda and Kishtwar G M Saroori-(MLA) along with general secretaries PCC Abdul Majid Wani, Yogesh Sawhney, secretaries and Organising secretaries Ashok Dogra (Ex-MLA), Imtiyaz Ahmed Khandey, Pawan Singh, MLAs, MLCs and other senior leaders shall conduct the membership drive in the Chenab Valley.
