REASI, Mar 18: Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi, today staged a Hindi play ‘Janwar’ at open air theatre in Ramleela Ground, Salal.
The play was written by Madan Mohan Sharma and directed by M Akram Khan, under financial assistance by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
Mohinder Singh, Sarpanch, Salal Kote, was the chief guest while Lal Singh, general secretary, Ram Leela Club, Salal, presided over the function. Shamshar Singh, a senior citizen, was the special guest on the occasion.
The play depicts the truth how a man becomes inhumane or an animal to fulfill wrong desires. The main character of the play is Capitan Krishnan Dev who gets engaged with a girl but unfortunately in the war of 1947, he loses his legs and his engagement breaks, as his wife gets married with another one.
His friend Radhay Shyam brings him a little girl ‘Geeta’ so that she would look-after him. When the girl reaches the ripe age of marriage, Krishan Dev becomes reluctant to of her marriage with anyone, as he doesn’t want to lose the girl. In the end, leaving his legacy for Geeta and his servant Seva Ram, he commits suicide.
The actors who acted in the play were Qayam Chib, Israr Mughal, Nisha Devi, Asha Kumari, Sahil Wani, Tilsara Magar and Raja Sohail Khan.
The lights were designed by Arun Verma and Sahil Abrol, Music was given by Sahil Gill, costumes were designed by Anam Khan, Makeup by Shadab Khan and Set was designed by Rakesh Bhagat.
