SAMETI organizes training programme

JAMMU, Nov 7: Two-day training programme by Regional Horticulture Research Sub-Station, Bhaderwah of SKUAST-J concluded today.
The programme was organized  in collaboration with State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) to aware the officers of Department of Horticulture from Doda and Udhampur about the establishment of High Density planting in temperate fruits.
Dr V K Wali, Prof  & Head of Fruit Science Division of SKUAST-J, discussed the importance and scope of high density planting in temperate fruits.
Dr K K Srivastava, Senior Scientist, CITH explained and demonstrated the participants about plant architecture and its management under high density planting. Dr Parshant Bakshi, Associate Prof of Fruit Science briefed about the importance of canopy management in temperate orchards.
He also discussed about dwarfing rootstocks and spur type cultivars of apple used in High Density Orchards. Dr Bandral, programme Co-ordinator, KVK Doda briefed the participant about pollination management under high density plantation. Jr Scientists Dr Sanjeev Kumar discussed about nutrient and water management of temperate crops under high density planting while Dr Neeraj Kotwal and Dr A C Jha enlightened about pest and disease related to these temperate fruits.
