Samba police arrests youth for raping minor

JAMMU, Feb 4: Samba Police today arrested one youth who was involved in raping a minor girl in Sangwali village of Ghagwal area of Samba district yesterday.
A team of Samba police headed by Inspector Anu Sharma of Ghagwal Police Station under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SP Samba and Vijay Pal Singh, DySP. (HQ) Samba nabbed the accused Ramesh Singh son of Rattan Singh of Sangwali Mandi Ghagwal who was involved in the offense.
Police said that yesterday the accused overpowered a 12 year old minor girl when she was coming from school, took her to the nearby forest area, outraged her modesty and fled after committing the offense. The girl in her statement said that she cried and called for help but no one came to her rescue, police added.
It said an FIR No. 12/2014 U/S 376 RPC was registered at P/S Ghagwal soon after the matter was brought in the notice of the Police. The police swung into action and immediately teams were dispatched to different locations for nabbing the accused. A message was also flashed to all the SHOs of the State for tracing the accused who had fled on his Motorcycle bearing registration No. JK02AH-4522, police added.
Police said teams of District Special Branch, Samba were also assigned the job to gather information and trace the location of the accused.
It said this evening, when accused was trying to board the rail at Railway Station Vijaypur to leave the State for evading his arrest, the Police which was in search of him nabbed him there and then.
