JAMMU, Oct 21: Outplaying District Udhampur in straight sets in an easy title clash, District Samba girls lifted the Under-14 Volleyball title in the Divisional Level Inter-District Under-14 and Under-17 girls Volleyball Championship, which got underway at Youth Hostel Nagrota Ground, here today.
Earlier, in Under-14 girls final, Samba defeated Udhampur by (25-20, 25-20) and claimed the title, while in other matches of the day in this category, Udhampur defeated Kathua in straight sets by (25-10, 25-15), while Samba outplayed Jammu in two straight sets by (25-20, 25-21).
Meanwhile, in Under-17 girls, two matches were played today, wherein Poonch beat Kathua by (20-25, 25-21, 25-18), while Samba trounced Jammu by (25-18, 25-15).
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Over 100 girls drawn from all 10 districts of Jammu division are taking part in the event, which is being held as part of the annual calendar of activities to pick Jammu division teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sarita Pandha, Pushpa Sharma, Jaswant Singh and Rakesh Kakkar.
