Rudrakshi’s superb bowling display goes in vain as Sikkim outplays J&K by 3 wkts

JAMMU, Sept 30: Brilliant bowling display by skipper Rudrakshi Chib and a superb knock by Ananya Sharma went in vain as minnows Sikkim outplayed J&K by 3 wickets in their opening match of Women’s Under-19 Cricket Trophy at Railway Stadium Bhubaneswar, today.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu and Kashmir lost 4 wickets for just 6 runs in first 7 overs. However, Ananya Sharma salvaged the sinking ship and played a brilliant innings of unbeaten 32 runs off 94 balls to help J&K score 78 runs in 35.3 overs. Bawndeep Kaur contributed valuable 20 runs to the total. For Sikkim, Dikcha was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 11 runs in her 10 overs, while Samayita bagged 2 wickets and Nur Pandi Lepcha claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Sikkim managed to reach the target in 28 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Samayita top scored with 30 runs off 56 balls, while Dikcha and Pranita contributed 10 and 9 runs respectively. For J&K, speedster Rudraksha Chib was the wrecker-in-chief who took 6 important wickets by conceding 24 runs in her 10 overs, while off-spinner Ananya Sharma claimed 1 wicket by giving away 7 runs in her 2 overs.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on Arunachal Pradesh in the next outing at the same venue tomorrow.
