JAMMU, June 9: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, ace gymnast Ruddrakash Khanna has been selected to represent India in the 10th Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championship to be held at Tagaytay City, Philippines.
Competing in the junior category for the first time, Ruddrakash secured second rank in the national selection trials recently held at Imphal, earning his place in the national squad. He is a trainee of the J&K Sports Council Gymnastics Academy, which has produced over 32 international athletes and won more than 750 medals in various national-level competitions.
Ruddrakash, a recipient of the J&K Government Award in Gymnastics (2025), has earlier represented India in the Youth Asian Championship and Suzuki World Cup, marking him as one of the promising young gymnasts in the country.
The recent success of J&K gymnasts is attributed to the continuous support extended by the J&K administration under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, whose vision has significantly strengthened sports infrastructure and athlete development in the Union Territory.
Under the leadership of Kiran Wattal, the Gymnastics Association of Jammu & Kashmir, in close collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under the leadership of Secretary Nuzhat Gull, has organised three National Gymnastics Championships over the last four years. These events have helped bring national recognition to Jammu as a growing gymnastics hub.
