UDHAMPUR, May 12: A cricket tournament was organized by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion based at Samote, under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Force Headquarter, Reasi, the Civil Administration and Village Level Sports Bodies.
In the final match today, the Sungri Hills Cricket Club lifted the ‘The Chasana Premiere League 2015’ trophy by defeating the Chasana Cricket Club by 10 runs.
The tournament which commenced in the third week of April 2015 was conducted on the T20 league cum knock out format. Eight teams saw intense competition over 14 days and played 28 matches.
The teams from remote villages and higher reaches of Pir Panjal Ranges were organized with a view to give an opportunity to talented cricketers and provide them with a platform to display their talent.
Large number of enthusiastic spectators from villages cheered their respective teams.
The novel sports fest culminated with awards ceremony jointly witnessed by large number of spectators, dignitaries of civil administration and the Army.
The Sarpanch of village Chasana, Jasbir Singh said that the conduct of such tournaments not only develops spirit of sportsmanship but also imbibes bond of unity in diversity among the students.
