Romesh Sharma excels in Master Badminton

JAMMU, Mar 26: Romesh Kumar Sharma-a retired employee from Jal Shakti Department recently has created history by winning two medals in the 45th Senior Masters Badminton Championship, which concluded today at Goa.
This is the medal winning performance in the history of J&K Badminton till date.
In men doubles (60 plus): The pair of Romesh Kumar Sharma/ Umesh Aggarwal (Kota) defeated Ravi Kumar/Beer Brhamchari N. (Karnataka) by 21-8, 21-9 in the 2nd round and in 3rd round, they defeated Ajay Gupta & Narhar Thakur (Goa),while in quarter finals, they defeated John Matha (Maharashtra) and Sunil Pai (Karnataka) by 2-0 (21-16, 21-18) and in semifinals, the pair beat Rajeev Meht/ Parveen Taneja (Chandigarh) 21-11, 21-19 and in finals, the pair lost to Yogesh Sanghvi/ Vipash Chatterji from Maharashtra by 15-21, 12-21.
In mix doubles, partnering with Beena V Shetty (Karnataka) in quarterfinals, he defeated PC Tewari/ Rekha Duper (Haryana) by 22-20, 21-12 and in semi finals lost to Ram Lakhan Punjab/Manjusha Susbarde Maharashtra by 16-21, 10-21and won the bronze medal.
