JAMMU, Dec 8: In the inaugural match of Dr Vidushi Kapahi Memorial 50- Over Cricket League, being played at Country Cricket Academy grounds, Gharota Jammu, Rising Stars Udhampur defeated Col. RN Chopra Cricket Academy Jammu by 5 wickets.
Col. RN Chopra Cricket Academy won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 146 runs in 39 overs. The main scorers were Abhay Tandon (47) and Jugjab (27). The wicket takers from the Rising Star Udhampur were Ashank, who scalped 3 wickets, Mukul who also claimed 3 wickets, Sachin who bagged 2 and Dikshant who picked 1 wicket.
While chasing the target, Rising Stars Udhampur played sensibly and completed the target in 31 overs after losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets.
Dikshant with 57 runs was the top scorer of the match, who was adjudged as the Man of the Match. Abhay Tandon from Col. RN Chopra Cricket Academy with 2 wickets was the pick among the bowlers.
Shugal Sharma and Sahil Sharma were the umpires.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council was the chief guest who while inaugurating the tournament laid emphasis that the sports man must vie for the excellence in sports via hard work rather than adopting petty aims for just hoarding certificates.
Vivek Sharma, Chairman Country Cricket Academy said that he initiated this tournament in collaboration with Project Model Hr. Sec School Janipur, Jammu to provide the cricketers the experience of the conditions of full scale and size cricket ground and grassy turf that has been maintained at Country Cricket Ground.
The local audience and the parents witnessed the match with keen interest.
