Rich tributes paid to Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat

JAMMU, June 1: Rich tributes were paid to Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat at a ‘Shardhanjli Samaroh’ at Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat Samark Park opposite Civil Secretariat Shalamar Road on his 46th death anniversary.
Mamta Singh, BJP vice president and wife of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, was the chief guest while BJP general Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul was also present and both paid homage to Bhagat Amar Nath.
Speaking on the occasion Gian Chand Dogra said late Amar Nath Bhagat sacrificed his life while sitting on fast-unto-death on May 21, 1970 for implementation of provisions in the Indian Constitution under Article 15(4), 16(4) and 330 to 242 in Jammu and Kashmir regarding framing rules of reservation. The State Government framed and implemented reservation rules in 1970 after the death of Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat.
Havan and Pooja was also performed on the occasion amidst raising of slogans like ‘Bhagat Amar Nath Amar Rahe’.
Producer and director of documentary films Anil Bharti made a documentary film which would be shown in each and every village.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Surinder Bhagat in the presence of Bansi Lal Choudhary, senior leader of OBC organization while other dignitaries who spoke were Dr Tara Chand, Puran Bhagat, K C Bhagat, Des Raj, Mohan Lal Pawar, N R Bhagat, Anil Kashyap, Rattan Kashyap, Jeet Ram Bhagat, Manohar Lal Rao, Bansi Lal Bharti, Chand Bala, Seema Devi, Behari Lal Bhagat, Rattan Lal, Sham Lal Bhagat and Darshana Devi.
