Retired police officers highlight grievances

JAMMU, Aug 6: The monthly meeting of the Retirees Police League District Jammu was conducted under the leadership of Karanjit Singh, DSP (retd) and President of the Retirees Police League.
A significant number of retired Police officers, including VK Ghai, Makhan Lal Sharma, Savita Parihar, Tabasm, Mukesh Kumar, BL Kaul, DD Sharma, Yoginder Singh, Kamal Sharma, HS Gill, Daljit Singh, Vijay Kumar, Kuldip Raj, Mohammad Sadiq, Dhian Singh, Brahm Dass, Satpal, Ashok Kumar, actively participated in the meeting.
The main issues discussed were the need to address discrepancies in pay and pensions among individuals with the same ranks. Additionally, concerns were raised about the Police Inspectors grade, which was equivalent to assistant accounts officers, section officers, and Naib Tehsildar, but remained unchanged during the implementation of the 6th pay commission, unlike the other mentioned roles.
The meeting also called for the provision of medicines to pensioners in Government hospitals, similar to other armed forces, and suggested that retired Government officers should be exempt from yearly membership renewal fees for the officer mess.
All members expressed their gratitude to the Director General of Police (DGP) for his outstanding efforts in promoting the welfare of both serving and retired police personnel.
The meeting concluded with a lunch.
