JAMMU, Nov 20: The 66th NCC Day was celebrated jointly by the NCC Cadets (Junior Division) of Govt. Hari Singh Hr. Sec. School Residency Road Jammu and the children of Govt. Residential School for Blind Roop Nagar.
A grand function was organized by 2 – J and K Boys NCC Bn. Jammu at Govt. Residential School for Blind Roop Nagar Jammu under the guidance of Lt. Colonel J.R. Kathiyal .
Govind Sharma, Associate NCC Officer of 2 – J and K Boys NCC Bn. at Govt. Hari Singh Hr. Sec. School Residency Road, Jammu was the chief guest and Prof. Sanjay Vidhrohi presided over the function.
Mr. Sharma said that the aim of NCC is not to militarize the youth, but to develop leadership traits and inculcate the qualities of good citizenship. He said social services and community development are other vital areas of National life in which the NCC’s contribution had been exemplary. He said NCC proudly marches into the 21st century with 66 golden years of existence.
Mr. Sharma also said that the nation can justifiably be proud of services being rendered by NCC cadets in various social causes such as spreading awareness about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Blood Donations, Tree Plantation, Flood Relief, Literacy Drive, Traffic Week, Visit to Old Age Home, Gandhi peace rallies, Vijay Divas Rallies and other Sadbhavana Rallies.
He said that NCC is engaged in the noble task of nurturing the youth of our country into worthy citizens playing an important role in shaping the character of our youth by instilling in them the value of patriotism, selfless service, discipline, and hard work. Govind Sharma and the NCC cadets interacted with the children and encouraged them.
Sanjay Vidrohi Sr. Faculty member of Blind School thanked the NCC cadets and Officials who visited and shared the happy moments with children. In the end, banners and books on NCC were distributed among the children and NCC cadets.
