SRINAGAR, May 18: Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, started today a three day research promotion workshop on “Introduction to Graph and Geometric Algorithms”.
The programme is funded by the NBHM, Government of India. Prof K I Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, KU, was the chief guest of the inaugural function. He highlighted the importance and involvement of Mathematics and Computer Sciences in various disciplines including biological and social science problems. He stressed towards the establishment of link between mathematics, Computer sciences and other real life problems.
Prof S Pirzada, HOD Mathematics & Convener of the programme, deliberated on the importance of Mathematics in other sciences. Prof S M K Qadri, Co-Convener of the programme, Prof Subir Ghosh, TIFR Mumbai, Co-Convener of the programme, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday and Dr M H Gulzar also spoke on the occasion.
