Research Awards organised at MIER College of Education

JAMMU, May 18: MIER College of Education organized the Research Awards for the year 2018 for felicitating its faculty members.
Prof Rajni Kant, Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Arun K Gupta Chairperson MIER and Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER, presided over the function.
Others present on the occasion were Dr Adit Gupta Director and Principal MIER College of Education, Prof NR Sharma, Dean Academics, Prof HR Shan Controller of Examination, Dr Rohnika Sharma HOD UG Department along with Deputy HoDs, Dr Mool Raj and Dr Monika Bajaj, Centre Heads and faculty members of college.
Prof Adit Gupta presented the welcome address and exhorted the faculty members to submit papers in high quality publications to validate their work, and in the wider scheme of things to create novel solutions to complex problems.
Dr Nishta Rana, Head Centre for Educational Research, presented the research report for the years 2016-2018 during which the faculty published 44 research papers in national and international Journals, conference proceedings and book chapter. The faculty has also presented 54 papers in national and international seminars and conferences. Besides the Centre for Education Research received a consultancy fee of 60,000 for editing research papers apart from getting a UGC sponsored minor research project with a funding of Rs 2.54 lakh.
Dr Arun K Gupta Chairman MIER explained about the importance of research and publication. He said publications can be regarded as an asset that enables authors to gain recognition and acknowledgement as experts in a particular field at national and international levels.
Prof Rajni Kant hoped that the institute can further build on its research capabilities in the future. He said that it always feels great when one’s efforts are recognized and this motivates us to strive for higher achievements in life. Ultimately, ‘publishing research’ is important because we all benefit from disseminating important information to the academia at large. He also released the College Newsletter entitled “Prerna” for distribution to the faculty members and students of the college.
In the end, vote of thanks was given by Dr Rohnika Sharma, HOD UG Department, while the programme was conducted by Dr Bindu Dua.
