Rehdi-Fadi workers’ protest continues on 8th day

JAMMU, Mar 29: Rehdi-Fadi Workers Union-Jammu, continued protest  demonstration and dharna under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) at Press Club here today.  Click here to watch video
They are protesting  against the unwanted move of the traffic police to remove Rehdi-Fadis of poor workers whose livelihood depend only on their small business. A large number of Rehdi-Fadi workers across the Jammu city assembled for the protest and shouted  slogans in favour of their demands and restoration of their Rehdi-Fadis at their previous locations.
Addressing the protesting workers, senior  CITU members Om Parkash condemned the continued move of traffic police- Jammu to forcefully removing of Rehdi-Fadis and destroying  material of the poor daily earners and rendering them jobless.  He said that these poor workers are neither demanding employment from the Government but  are seeking their own livelihood.  He urged upon the present dispensation to allow the poor workers to reinstall their Rehdi-Fadis at their existing place, pay compensation to the poor workers for the loss they suffered  and take strict action against the persons responsible for unlawfully detention  of poor workers.
Sham Parsad Kesar senior CITU member said that the Government has agreed to rehabilitate the displaced venders within a period of one month.  He appreciated this steps of Government and added that the struggle will continue till their appropriate rehabilitation.   He urged upon all workers to intensify their struggle till their demands are met.
